Steven Stiefel worked in development many years ago, where he read more than 1500 scripts and books, and wrote coverage on many of them. He read for several production companies and screenwriting contests. This experience helped him learn the intricacies of story for TV and film.

After a long subsequent stint as a magazine writer, Steven returned to writing scripts in 2019. His current projects emphasize sci-fi and non-graphic horror with a literary bent. He also writes sitcom pilots and specs. He works with two writing partners (M.E. Ellington and Jodi Teti) as well as on his own. These projects have earned over 60 accolades and awards in the past 3 years.

His novel—TOMORROW'S FLIGHT, a thriller written with M.E. Ellington—was a #1 Amazon bestseller in May, 2022. He is also the co-author of MAKING RUMOURS (Wiley & Sons), a memoir of the turbulent year (1976) Ken Caillat spent producing Fleetwood Mac’s iconic album. His short fiction has been published by McSweeney’s, The Georgia Review, and other literary journals.

Steven earned advanced degrees from USC (Masters of Professional Writing in screenwriting) and University of Arizona (MFA in fiction writing). Currently, he lives in Los Angeles, where he’s adapting his IP short novel, OCTOBER SEVEN, about Edgar Allan Poe's death and exhumation as a feature.
